Rio De Nightmare
My girlfriends and I were just recently in Brazil for Carnival, staying in Rio de Janeiro. The festival was spectacular – like nothing I’ve ever seen. One night we were leaving the hotel in our rental car to find a celebration we heard about that was in another little part of the city, and we apparently took a wrong turn. We ended up on a narrow, dark road, with no end in sight. Just as things couldn’t get any worse, we suddenly heard a loud “bang” and found ourselves with a flat tire. Great!
Not knowing what to do and getting increasingly scared, I dialed up ASSIST-CARD. The operator had us set up with a tow truck within minutes, and said we should be expecting it to arrive soon. Then he stayed on the line until the truck arrived, just to make sure we were ok. It pulled up about 15 minutes later. And when the driver hopped out to help us, we realized that he didn’t speak a word of English. But, before I even had time to start worrying about how we would tell him where our hotel was, the operator told me not to worry because he could act as a translator. We were all amazed at just how invaluable ASSIST-CARD was. I don’t even want to think about what we would have done without it.
