And we’re not just there when things go wrong – our concierge services are always at hand to help with everything from arranging tee times to finding local cultural activities. Accidental death coverage

Every ASSIST-CARD Policyholder receives Accidental Death Coverage that is valid for all trips abroad made during the validity of the card. The covered amount will depend on the ASSIST-CARD product purchased.

Assistance in case of lost or delayed luggage

The moment you notify an Alarm Center that your luggage has been misplaced, our staff will immediately start the luggage-tracking operation in the airports of departure, stopovers and final destination. These initial hours after the loss is detected are crucial in locating the luggage, so it is essential that we be informed directly from the airport. If your luggage is found, we will have it delivered to you. In cases when customs must be cleared, it is possible that you must personally go to the airport to pick up your luggage.

Some ASSIST-CARD products include coverage that provides an indemnity or compensation in case the luggage is not found within a specified time frame. To collect the covered amounts in such cases, you must fulfill certain requirements. These requirements include informing ASSIST-CARD of the loss before leaving the airport, and submitting receipts corresponding to the type of compensation or indemnity included in the ASSIST-CARD product purchased.

Assistance in event of lost or stolen passport, tickets, etc.

ASSIST-CARD will provide stickers to place on your passport, airline tickets and other documents, so a person who finds them can get in touch with any ASSIST-CARD office free of charge to return them.

Our staff will also assist you in replacing the lost travel documents if necessary. In the case of credit cards, we will report the loss to credit card companies. In the case of travel documents, we will provide you with the most complete information on the formalities and steps to be taken (requirements, addresses, hours of operation etc.). ASSIST-CARD will also contact the travel agency that issued your tickets to have them reissued.

Compensation for expenses arising from lost or delayed luggage

ASSIST-CARD will provide compensation to recover the amount spent on basic-need items due to loss or delay of luggage checked into the luggage compartment of a regular airline international flight.

If the ASSIST-CARD product purchased includes coverage for up to $1,200, the luggage is not located within 36 hours, and you have fulfilled the proper requirements, you will be compensated up to $200. If the luggage is not located within 10 days, you may be compensated up to $1000. If the luggage is found later, it will be delivered to you regardless of the amount compensated.

Concierge Services

Our concierge services are there to help you make the most out of your trip. You can call us 24/7 to get translations, information or advice on local cultural activities, shows, sports, excursions, restaurant reservations or tee times, and even get help finding a new hotel if there are problems with your existing reservations.

Early return due to serious disaster at home

In the event of a fire, explosion, theft with damages or other serious disaster at your home, ASSIST-CARD will take care of penalty charges, rate differences or the cost of a new airline ticket for your immediate return.

Hotel expenses due to convalescence

If our Medical Team prescribes mandatory rest after hospitalization and you must extend your trip, we will reimburse your hotel lodging expenses (without extras) according to the daily and global amounts established for the ASSIST-CARD product purchased.

Indemnity for total loss of luggage

If the airline declares the luggage “non-located,” we will pay the corresponding amount either in addition or as a complement to the amount paid by the airline, according to the ASSIST-CARD product purchased.

In addition means you will be paid up to the amount established in the ASSIST-CARD product purchased, independently from the amount paid by the airline.

As a complement means you will be paid an amount that, when added to the amount paid by the airline, equals the total amount established in the ASSIST-CARD product purchased. (For example, if the total amount established in the ASSIST-CARD product purchased is up to $1,200 and the airline pays $600, ASSIST-CARD will pay a maximum of $600.)

Legal aid and advance of funds for bail bonds

When the need is legitimate and moral, ASSIST-CARD will provide you with access to a lawyer. (If you committed any illegal action, ASSIST-CARD will not provide any kind of service.) According to the ASSIST-CARD product purchased, we may also pay the lawyer’s fees. In cases when bail is required, ASSIST-CARD will provide you with a cash advance for bonds up to the amount needed.

Medical Assistance

The moment you notify the nearest Alarm Center or any other ASSIST-CARD office of an accident or symptoms of an illness, our staff will provide essential medical assistance wherever you may be. We will organize a visit to a doctor's office, send a doctor to the hotel or arrange for an ambulance, depending on your medical need. If specialized consultation is necessary, we will arrange appointments with the necessary qualified specialists. We will also make arrangements for clinical studies, X rays or lab analysis, and proceed with hospitalization at the most qualified medical center if required.

Please note, we cannot always guarantee that the Physician who sees you will speak your language. After all, we select our Physicians because of their professional skills and not because of the quantity of languages they speak. If the Physician does not speak your language, you can simply call our Alarm Center and the operator will work as an interpreter.

Medical assistance in case of preexisting illness

If you have a preexisting condition, please refer to the General Terms & Conditions corresponding to each ASSIST-CARD product to find those that include medical assistance in case of preexisting illness.

Medical repatriation

In the case of serious illness or an accident, ASSIST-CARD will arrange for your return to your country of residence, including air transportation, specialized equipment and the professional intensive care staff required.

Medicines

ASSIST-CARD will pay for all medicines necessary in an emergency, and in many cases we will deliver the medicines. If for any reason we cannot pay for or deliver the medicines at the time of the emergency, we will reimburse you as soon possible.

Odontology

In the case of an acute dental problem (meaning those dental problems that, either due to an infection or a trauma, may cause pain), an ASSIST-CARD operator will set up an appointment at a nearby dental office and provide directions to that office.

Reimbursement of expenses due to delayed or cancelled flight

If your flight is cancelled, delayed or you cannot board even though your reservation is confirmed, and any of these circumstances implies over 6 hours of delay, we will reimburse you for food, telephone or other expenses up to the amount established for the ASSIST-CARD product purchased.

Repatriation of remains

ASSIST-CARD will organize, pay transportation costs, and provide assistance to obtain necessary legal documents and authorizations for the repatriation of mortal remains to the city of residence. According to the product purchased, we will also coordinate, together with family members and local providers, the necessary preparations of the remains for transportation or proceed with cremation, as well as organize transportation and reception at the airport in the country of residence.

Replacement of medication or eyeglasses

If you forget or misplace your medication or eyeglasses, we will attempt to locate the appropriate replacements locally, or arrange for their delivery from your country of residence.

Return trip due to illness or death of an immediate family member

If you must return from your trip earlier or later due to the illness or death of an immediate family member in your country of residence, ASSIST-CARD will take care of penalty charges, rate differences or the cost of a new airline ticket for your return. We will pay these amounts directly to the airline.

Sanitary transfer and repatriation

ASSIST-CARD will provide sanitary transfer to the most adequate and nearest medical facility in the event you must be hospitalized. If the local medical structure is not adequate to provide the attention required, we have the extensive professional experience necessary to provide sanitary repatriation. Depending on circumstances and distances, sanitary repatriation is performed in the most modern ambulance aircraft or in regular flights. If the sanitary repatriation must be performed in a regular flight, an actual ICU is installed within the plane.

Transfer and accompaniment of minors

If you are traveling alone with minor(s) and must be hospitalized, ASSIST-CARD will provide a professional babysitter to accompany the minor(s) until a direct family member arrives or until you are released. We will also take care of the travel expenses for the relative to take the minor(s) back home, or a member of our staff will escort the minor(s) back.

Transfer of business colleagye due to medical emergency

If you are on a business trip and suffer a serious medical emergency that prevents you from continuing the professional objective of your trip, ASSIST-CARD will pay for the ticket of the colleague your company appoints to act as your replacement.

Transfer of relative

If you are traveling alone and must remain hospitalized for over 10 days, ASSIST-CARD will pay for the round trip ticket of a relative to accompany you until you have recovered.

Transmission of urgent messages

In the case of an emergency, ASSIST-CARD will inform family members of matters regarding your treatment and state of health.
